1.Let your PC boot up completely opening any applications.

2.Refresh the desktop after closing any application. This will remove any unused files from the RAM.

3.Do not set very large file size images as your wallpaper. Do not keep a wallpaper at all if your PC is low on RAM (less than 64 MB).

4.Do not clutter your Desktop with a lot of shortcuts. Each shortcut on the desktop uses up to 500 bytes of RAM

5.Empty the recycle bin regularly. The files are not really deleted from your hard drive until you empty the recycle bin.

6.Delete the temporary internet files and cache regularly.

7.Defragment your hard drive once every week. This will free up a lot of space on your hard drive and rearrange the files so that your applications run faster.

8.Always make two partitions in your hard drive. Install all large Softwares (like PSP, Photoshop, 3DS Max etc) in the second partition. Windows uses all the available empty space in C drive as virtual memory when your Computer RAM is full. Keep the C Drive as empty as possible.

9.When installing new Softwares disable the option of having a tray icon. The tray icons use up available RAM, and also slow down the booting of your PC. Also disable the option of starting the application automatically when the PC boots. You can disable these options later on also from the Tools or preferences menu in your application.

10. Protect your PC from dust. Dust causes the CPU cooling fan to jam and slow down thereby gradually heating your CPU and affecting the processing speed. Use compressed air to blow out any dust from the CPU. Never use vacuum.

11. Limit the amount of programs running in the background (Hit Control+Alt+Delete and close any programs you won\\\’t be using, do not close programs if you don\\\’t know what they are)

12. Use reliable Tune-Up diagnostics software, to clean, speed up, Tune-Up, and customize your computer. See Below.

I’ve been playing the Full Version Of Frontlines Fuel Of War this week, the demo is set for release March 11th 2008. It will be large 1.69 GB download demo, featuring a new map “Invasion”, in addition to the final release version of the map “Oilfield”.

The official description on the demo:

“Frontlines: Fuel of War is an open-world First Person Shooter set on the frontlines of tomorrow. In a world ravaged by a global energy crisis, environmental decay, and economic depression, players assume the role of an elite soldier in the Western Coalition Army on an epic crusade against the Red Star Alliance to control the last of the world’s oil reserves. Frontlines: Fuel of War combines intensely cinematic, non-linear game play, with next generation weaponry and a revolutionary Frontline Combat System to deliver the most thrilling and engaging FPS to date.”

Having run a clan/gaming community for over 6 years I have put many hours into both hosting and playing first person shooters including Day of Defeat, Battlefield 2,Battlefield 2142, Call of Duty 4 and Team Fortress 2.

Frontlines Fuel of War is a game different than all of the above. The game play is similar to Battlefield 2142 in terms of speed and learning curve. Running on the quake 3 engine it has stunning “cinematic” graphics and smooth game play in both single and multiplayer modes. Frontline Fuel Of War is most like Battlefield 2 in many aspects, similar vehicles, weapons and structure. After playing Call of Duty 4 over the past several months, it is a welcome return to squad based play. I also prefer game play using team strategy rather and the old run and gun techniques of COD 4. The aircraft is not difficult to master as both jets and helicopters are slower than Battlefield 2. The addition of remote control drones is a fantastic development and endlessly entertaining. Having shifted games almost annually for the last 3 to 4 years I was reluctant to jump on the FFOW band wagon. Having done so, I am very happy I picked up a copy of the full version, it is an excellent game in all aspects.

A few notes however, I have not been able to find a way to view the server Ip in game which makes it harder to join with friends, there is no friends list, and a history tab in the server browser would be a welcome addition. As further patches are released I hope to see these features. From what I’ve seen the developers are very supportive of the community on a level rarely seen in game development teams over the last few years. I hope this dialog continues so we can share ideas with the company and keep this game popular longer than the last 3 fps record breakers.
